There is a wide range of badges available for young people to work on in Scouting.

These are mostly split into two types:

  • Activity badges are about a specific skill – typically young people work on these in their own time though sometimes they are done as a group.
  • Challenge badges have several requirements which may be covered at meetings, camps or at home.

Because camping and hiking are key activities, there are specific Nights Away and Hikes Away badges for those…so you can keep track of how many nights you have done.  Typically Scouts get up to 35 or 50…Explorers more still!
